We were fortunate enough to host the crew from Grenzenlos, a popular German travel show that airs in five German speaking countries. The section on the cafe begins at 17:50. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxvjL_O_NsI
"Marrakech’s Henna Art Café is another top spot for beautiful semi-permanent designs. Located in the lively heart of the medina and just a short walk from Djemaa el Fna, it’s a great place to unwind with a drink and a tasty meal before or after having your body decorated with henna."

"Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan visitors to Marrakech should be sure to visit Henna Art Cafe, where the staff graciously cater to a wide variety of diets. Every item on the menu is clearly labeled for dietary restrictions, and guests should feel encouraged to ask for details if they have specific needs. After you finish your meal, head over to the 100 percent organic henna studio attached to the restaurant for some ink to commemorate your delicious, diet-conscious meal."

"Marrakech Henna Art Cafe is a cute cafe south of Jemaa el’Fnaa (the main square). Gluten free foods are marked on the menu and the staff here know about celiac disease – a definite feat in Marrakech! This is where I got henna done, as it is the best and safest place to get henna done in Marrakech! The women who do henna here are true artists and get fair pay, and the quality of the henna won’t burn or infect your skin."

Marrakech - Smag, steder og stemnin (2017)
In December 2017, we had a visit from Maria Wittendorf, who published her new Danish guidebook for Marrakech, called Marrakech - Smag, steder og stemnin (2017). She included two pages about Henna Art Cafe, for which we are so grateful! See more about her book here.

"Lori is one of the sweetest owners you will come across in Marrakech! The cafe is run by Lori in collaboration with Rachid, who is a Moroccan berber. That does not imply you find an array of tagines here, but you do get fresh meals. The avocado salad with couscous was noteworthy and the prices are cheaper than most of the restaurants in the square...as the name suggests, you can select a henna pattern as you have you meal. While I myself did not get a henna tattoo, the graffiti on the walls and the various artifacts for sale decorated with henna were adorable. The terrace seating provides respite from heat and it was fun to watch the experienced women draw intricate patterns. The reviews are stellar and I had a great time at this place. Even tough it's almost in the city center, it's calm and has great views!"

"Henna Art Café was by far the most affordable veggie meal I had in Marrakech and it was darn delicious. I love thoughtful details, particularly with designs and branding...the menus were in English, French, Spanish, and Arabic and the staff spoke a variety of languages to make it a bit easier to order or ask questions about the food offerings."

"Henna Art Café is located in the heart of Jema Fena, the famous cultural square of Marrakech. It aims at promoting Moroccan-Western cross-cultural activities, as well as promoting youth initiatives that help the impoverished across Morocco."

"The Henna Art Café is a good recommendation for lunch in the southern Medina. There’s a gallery on the ground floor of the Riad with contemporary artwork on display. This café with a rooftop terrace is located on the first floor of the Riad. Various vegetarian, vegan and meaty snacks are on the menu, as well as fresh juices and smoothies. On the menu are dishes like eggplant caviar (Zaalouk), various vegan salads, hummus, lentils with rice, Zucchini salad, falafel sandwiches with Taktouka, vegetarian couscous and seasonal fruits."

"Lori Gordon, an artist from South Dakota, opened Marrakech Henna Art Cafe earlier this year with hopes of giving back to the community in her own way. Serving up henna art and delicious eats, Lori recently founded a sister non-profit that will support underprivileged Marrakech youth through free art and photography lessons."

"We love this little restaurant and artsy hideaway in the medina and think you will too. Come for lunch and enjoy a meal, then have a safe, and skilled henna artist apply a design of your choice. It's the perfect little escape for a lovely lunch. If you want to have henna done in Marrakech do it here, it's safe and well done."

"Lori, an American who lost her heart in Morocco, is the owner of this amazing café. In this café, close to Djemaa El Fna, you can enjoy a moment of peace from the busy streets around you. They have delicious food for a good price of which a part goes as support to local artists. It is beautifully decorated and the art that is hanging around is for sale. And if you are up for it you can get a henna tattoo."

"I loved the Henna Art Cafe because it not only has some of the most talented Henna artists in Marrakech, but it works with non-profits, employs only Moroccan nationals, uses all natural henna, and is owned by the sweetest woman – Lori! It’s a beautiful place with a beautiful story, and I guarantee you will LOVE your henna!"

"This is where I had both my first tagine (a typical Moroccan dish, prepared in a special pot with cover, both made of clay, usually containing some sort of meat, vegetables and egg), and my first fresh pressed orange juice. Both were absolutely delicious! Henna Art Café was located really close to our first riad, with both a charming balcony if you want to eat outside, or a lovely decorated place inside. With loads to look at, and nice Moroccan food which won’t break your bank, Henna Art Café is a wonderful spot for a lunch, or just for a juice between your adventures in Marrakech."

"If you’re going to get a henna tattoo in Morocco, this is the place to do it. While there are many artists offering tattoos on Djemaa El Fna and the surrounding streets, you’re not always sure what’s in the ink, and it’s often mixed with dyes that can cause allergies. At Marrakech Henna Art Cafe, they only use 100% natural henna ink, and you know your tattoo will be created by an experienced artist."

"This charming cafe and gallery with rooftop terraces has a vegetarian- and vegan-conscious menu serving a mix of North African dishes, sandwiches, wraps and salads (the Berber omelette is a winner). True to its name, it also has local art exhibits, a collection of Amazigh artefacts, wall murals and the opportunity to get your own piece of henna body art (Dh50 to Dh300)."
